Women from all parts of Ivorian society presented their New Year greetings to the First Lady, Dominique Ouattara, on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. As in previous years, the sumptuous garden of the Presidential residence located at the Riviera Golf hosted the friendly event.

For this year, the guests are from all backgrounds of the Ivorian society namely the Government, the National Assembly, the Senate, the diplomatic corps, the wives of the Presidents of Institution and ministers, business leaders, the medical sector, NGOs and many other sectors.

Taking advantage of the event, the First Lady reviewed the major projects carried out by her Foundation during the past year. Indeed, in 2018 Children of Africa Foundation carried out  several actions and ambitious projects  for the well-being of its fellow citizens.  She also mentioned the inauguration in March last of the Mother and Child’s Hospital of Bingerville as  one her main achievement for 2018. The MCH of Bingerville remains the largest project of the Children of Africa Foundation. "(...) As you know, Mothers and Children have always been at the heart of our humanitarian commitment. That is why the opening of our hospital shows our commitment to improving the living conditions of our people, " said Dominique Ouattara. In addition, another highlight of this March following the inauguration of the MCH was undoubtedly the 7th gala dinner of the Children of Africa Foundation marking the 20th anniversary of the inception of the humanitarian foundation. In addition to these great achievements, the wife of the Head of State recalled the inauguration of the Reception Center of Soubré last June. "In the context of the fight against child labour, the Foundation also inaugurated last June the reception center in Soubré, for children involved into child trafficking and child labour," said Mrs. Dominique Ouattara. The First Lady also revealed that to date there are fifty children who have already rescued from the hands of traffickers. Concerning women’s empowerment, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara also spoke about the success story of the Fund for Women of Côte d'Ivoire (FAFCI), which counts nearly 165,000 beneficiaries for a budget of 10 billion F CFA.

 

Finally, the First Lady congratulated women for their dynamism in the various sectors they operate into. "I am confident that this year again, you will be able to meet the challenges that will come up to you in your respective positions and roles," she said.

Mrs. Bakayoko Ly Ramata, Minister for Women, Family and Children, on behalf of the women, presented the New Year's greetings to the First Lady. She also recalled the humanitarian commitment of the First Lady. "Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, the women of Côte d'Ivoire express their unwavering attachment and gratitude to you for your actions to protect and promote children and women’s rights" she said. For Ms. Bakayoko Ly Ramata, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara’s great reputation and her fight for the development of children, her fight against violence against women and her solidarity with the poor make her a model for Africa and the whole world.

Mrs. Farida Bouguetaia, President of the Association of Ambassadors, on behalf of the wives of Ambassadors accredited in Côte d'Ivoire, presented the best wishes for this New Year to the First Lady. She thanked Mrs. Dominique Ouattara for  the love and solidarity that she promotes. She recalled the support provided to the poor patients of the Mother and Child’s Hospital of Bingerville by their Association. The women offered 25 african clothes, 1 flower pot and a painting to the First Lady. In return, the wife of the Head of State offered presents to each of the women present
