MISS MATH CONTEST
First Lady Dominique Ouattara has sponsored the award ceremony of the winners of the 2013 and 2014 editions of Miss Math Contest, on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Lycée Sainte Marie of Cocody. The wife of the Head of the State was accompanied during the ceremony, by the President of the National Assembly, Guillaume Soro Kigbafori Mrs. Kandia Camara, Minister of National Education and Technical Training; Niamien Konan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and many other personalities. As always concerned with the issue of gender development, the First Lady wanted once more to assert her to support to this contest. And as the previous edition, the First Lady made the trip to the Lycée Sainte Marie hands full of gifts for her godchildren.
Thus Mrs. Dominique Ouattara offered donations in cash and kind worth CFA francs 27.2 million. She gave CFA francs 1.2 million to the winners of the contest; CFA 2,000,000 to the students of Lycée Sainte Marie; 1 million CFA to the staff of the school; CFA 1 million the other schools nominees; CFA francs 1 million to the Mathematical Society of Côte d'Ivoire and CFA 1 million to the traditional leaders; the fanfare of the District of Abidjan and the girls’ choir from Lycée St. Marie. The total of these in-kind donations is: 7,000,000 F CFA. In addition, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara offered in-kind donations to the winners of the contest and the school Sainte Marie.
Thus, she offered 12 laptops; 12 mobile wireless mice and 34 calculators to the winners of the contest. She also offered 19 books of Terminal math of CIAM collection; 19 AREX physics books for Terminal C and 34 Larousse dictionaries. The school Sainte Marie meanwhile, received 15 computers; one 50-inch LED screen television; 1 washing machine of 17 kg; 500 Perspex chairs; 10 carton boxes of chalk and 5 sets of sports jersey. Responding too to a complaint from the headmaster of the Lycée Sainte Marie, the First Lady, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara promised to make every effort to improve the boarding school said to allow girls to study in a safe and supportive environment in the school.
