Seed and pesticides Donation Ceremony
The First Lady Dominique Ouattara sponsored, on Friday, December 12th, 2014 at the Palais de la Culture of Treichville, a seed donation ceremony for the women of the food crops sector. Organized by the Autonomous District of Abidjan, the ceremony was attended by all women's associations and cooperatives of the food crops field who came from across the country. This ceremony resulted in a true celebration of the courage and bravery of these women to support themselves, but who also work towards Côte d’Ivoire self-suffiency. It was also an opportunity for Mrs. Dominique Ouattara to show her support to his sisters. And at a great scope. Mrs. Dominique Ouattara has provided seeds to the women in food sector: 5 tons of tomatoes seed; 10 tons of rice seed; 3 tons of eggplant deed; 3 tons of onions seed and a ton of peppers seed, is what the wife of the head of state offered her sisters. In terms of area it is more than 230 hectares of seed that has been made available to women. These donations enable them to support themselves. The First Lady has not stopped there. Indeed, in addition to these seeds, she offered donations in cash and kind worth more than 140 million FCFA to women and the populations of Treichville. So she offered phytosanitary equipment worth 135 million CFA francs, precisely 1000 sprayers; 2,000 watering pots; 2,000 pairs of boots; 2,000 machetes and 2,000 files she offered during the ceremony to the women of food sector. In addition, she offered 5 million CFA francs in cash to the populations.
First Lady Dominique Ouattara reiterated the importance of gender in the development policy of President Alassane Ouattara. "The confidence placed by the President in us women is total and he strives for the promotion of women in our country," she said. Taking advantage of this ceremony, she shared her pride in the bravery of these women. "The meeting today gives me the pleasant opportunity to tell you how much I appreciate your courage and your strength. You work in the field of food, a field that involves many sacrifices and constraints and is subject to many troubles. However you manage to do miracles daily with the little means you have "welcomed Mrs. Dominique Ouattara. In addition, the First Lady invited women from the food industry to join the Support Fund for Côte d'Ivoire Women (FAFCI). "(…) As 40,000 of our sisters, it will allow you to carry out income generating activities and be independent," said she advised.
