Audience: Jean-Philippe Poinsot, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Côte d’Ivoire, bids farewell at the end of his mission
On Tuesday November 19, 2024, Jean-Philippe Poinsot, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Côte d’Ivoire, was received on a courtesy call to mark the end of his mission. During the meeting, he expressed his gratitude for the fruitful collaboration established over the past five years. Mr. Poinsot paid particular tribute to the personal involvement of the wife of the Head of State in the initiatives of the United Nations agencies. He thanked her for her initiatives to empower women, notably through the Fund for Ivorian Women (FAFCI), and to combat child labor, two essential pillars for the country’s sustainable and inclusive development. “I have come to greet the First Lady, and to thank her for all she has done for the United Nations system over the past 5 years. She is deeply involved in the work of many of our funds, programs, agencies and UN entities, including UNAIDS, UNICEF, the ILO and many others. And also to congratulate her once again on the remarkable work being done with FACI to empower women. I think it’s a really interesting model that should be looked at, including by ourselves, the United Nations, to see how we can replicate this magnificent program. And also for all she has done in the field of cocoa and the fight against child labor, but above all, to help people understand that behind this problem, which we see in a rather abstract way, there is above all a question of poverty among small-scale producers, and that the real problem in the cocoa business lies at this level”, recalled Mr. Jean-Philippe Poinsot, as he left the audience.
In return, the First Lady, Mrs Dominique Ouattara, thanked Mr. Poinsot for his significant contribution to the coordination of United Nations actions in Côte d’Ivoire, underlining the positive impact of his commitment. The two parties wished each other every success in the continuation of their respective missions.
