Death of Mrs Clarisse Duncan : The First Lady, Mrs Dominique Ouattara, expresses her sympathy to Daniel Kablan Duncan

First Lady Dominique Ouattara visited the home of Daniel Kablan Duncan, former Vice-President of the Republic, on Wednesday May 21, 2025, to offer her condolences following the death of his wife, Mrs Clarisse Duncan, in Abidjan on May 4.

Mrs Dominique Ouattara was deeply moved by this loss , and expressed in person her support and that of her husband, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Alassane Ouattara, to the former Vice-President and his grieving family.

It was at the head of a large delegation comprising several Ministers and members of her cabinet that the wife of the Head of State visited the home of the former Vice-President.

 The honor fell to Mr. Siandou Fofana, Minister of Tourism and Leisure, to speak on behalf of the Presidential couple. After the introductions, Mr. Siandou Fofana expressed the Presidential couple’s support and comfort to Mr. Daniel Kablan Duncan and his entire family. He went on to emphasize the close relationship between the Presidential couple and Mr Duncan and his wife. He recalled that it was in the name of this fraternity that the First Lady had come to offer her condolences. Finally, in the name of the Presidential couple, he handed over 5 million F CFA to the grieving family for the funeral arrangements.

Mr. Koffi Samuel, spokesman for the bereaved family, thanked the Presidential couple for their care and support since the death of Mrs. Clarisse Duncan’. He also recalled the very close relationship that has united the two couples for many years. Mr. Daniel Kablan Duncan then expressed his gratitude to the First Lady and the members of her delegation for their support. Mrse Clarisse Duncan passed away on May 4 in Abidjan. Her death leaves a great emptiness in the hearts of her loved ones.
