Death of Mrs. Arlette Tanoh: The First Lady offers her condolences to the family of Minister Thierry Tanoh

On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the First Lady of Côte d’Ivoire, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, visited Cocody, the home of former minister Thierry Tanoh, to express her sympathy and offer her sincere condolences on behalf of the President of the Republic and herself following the death of his mother, Mrs. Arlette Tanoh Kert, who passed away on August 29 in Abidjan.
For this occasion, the First Lady was accompanied by an important delegation including Mr. Mamadou Touré, Minister for Youth Promotion, Professional Integration, and Civic Service, and Ms. Sarah Sacko Fadiga, Vice President of the Senate, as well as several political and institutional figures.
Ms. Arlette Tanoh leaves behind the memory of an exceptional woman who had a profound impact on the Ivorian education system through her professionalism, dedication, and commitment to serving young people. As former mathematics teacher, she successively held the positions of principal of a highschool in Adjamé and the Mamie Adjoua Highschool in Yamoussoukro, where she trained and mentored several generations of students.
In her message of sympathy, the First Lady expressed her deepest condolences to the Tanoh family and their loved ones, assuring them of her unwavering support during this time of great sorrow.
Deeply moved, Minister Thierry Tanoh expressed his profound gratitude to the presidential couple for their constant comfort during each of the trials he has endured. His words were relayed by Mr. Siaka Diaby, spokesperson for the family, who also conveyed his family’s gratitude for this gesture of kindness.
On behalf of the First Lady, Mr. Mamadou Touré presented the bereaved family with a symbolic contribution of 5 million CFA francs to help with the funeral arrangements.
The funeral program includes a religious vigil on Tuesday, September 9, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Saint John of Cocody Church. The body will be removed on Wednesday, September 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny hall in Ivosep, Treichville.
Finally, a requiem mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Sainte-Syre in Montceaux-Lès-Vaudes, France, followed by burial at the cemetery in the same town.
