Mourning: First Lady Dominique Ouattara expresses her sympathy to the family of Mrs. N’Diaye Assétou Camara
The First Lady, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, offered her condolences to the family of Mrs. N’Diaye Assétou, wife of Camara, personal secretary to the President of the Republic, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at her home in Angré.
The deceased, who passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, held strategic positions with the Head of State, President Alassane Ouattara, and was one of his closest collaborators. Appreciated for her discretion, professionalism, and loyalty, she distinguished herself throughout her career with a strong sense of duty and constant commitment to the presidential administration.
Absent at the time of her death, the First Lady made a point of visiting the bereaved family in person upon her return to offer her sympathy, comfort, and the solidarity of the nation.
Mrs. Dominique Ouattara was accompanied by several dignitaries, including the Minister for Youth Promotion, Professional Integration, and Civic Service, Mr. Mamadou Touré, spokesperson for the delegation. Speaking on behalf of the First Lady, the minister highlighted the special bond of filial affection that united the deceased with the presidential couple. “Mrs. Camara was their daughter. Her passing is felt as the loss of a loved one,” he said, also emphasizing the personal involvement of the Head of State at every stage of the funeral, a sign of the closeness that existed between the presidential family and the deceased.
On behalf of the family, Mr. Amadou Camara expressed his deep gratitude to the presidential couple for their constant support during this difficult time. He recalled in particular the presence of the President of the Republic at the removal of the body on Friday, January 23, 2026, at IVOSEP Treichville, who came to pay his last respects to his colleague, as well as the support provided throughout the funeral ceremonies.
In a gesture of solidarity and compassion, the First Lady gave the family a contribution of five million CFA francs to help with the funeral arrangements. This act of generosity was warmly welcomed by the family of the deceased, who saw it as a further sign of humanity and closeness.
