Health and Social Action: First Lady Dominique Ouattara and Michel Sidibé Discuss the Future of the Bingerville Mother and Child Hospital
On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the First Lady of Côte d’Ivoire, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, received Mr. Michel Sidibé, former Executive Director of UNAIDS, at her offices in Cocody. This meeting was part of ongoing discussions regarding health and social initiatives undertaken to support vulnerable populations.
The discussions focused primarily on the work already carried out at the Bingerville Mother and Child Hospital, as well as the development prospects for this leading healthcare facility. The two discussed, in particular, the need to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to sustainably provide quality care to the most vulnerable populations.
Following the meeting, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara expressed her satisfaction with the quality of the discussions and Mr. Sidibé’s continued interest in public health and social welfare issues. She also expressed her gratitude for the visit, while wishing him a pleasant stay in Ivory Coast.
For his part, Michel Sidibé described the meeting as a “courtesy visit,” marked by an in-depth exchange on the achievements and future prospects of the Mother-Child Hospital in Bingerville. He stated:”It was first and foremost a courtesy visit. It had been a long time since we had seen each other, and for me, it is always a great pleasure to meet the First Lady. During our meeting, we reviewed all that she has accomplished with the Mother-Child Hospital. We also discussed her strategic vision for the future: how this institution can continue to support the populations most in need. This hospital brings the necessary innovation and demonstrates a management model that proves such structures can not only exist but also operate sustainably within our countries.” “
This audience confirms the First Lady’s continued commitment to strengthening the Ivorian health system and improving care for vulnerable populations, particularly through innovative facilities such as the Mother-Child Hospital in Bingerville.”
