Audience: First Lady Dominique Ouattara Meets with Henriette Lagou
On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, First Lady Dominique Ouattara received Henriette Lagou Adjoua, President of the Rally for Peace and Harmony (RPC Paix) and former minister, in an audience at her offices in Cocody.
This meeting allowed the two leaders to discuss several topics of mutual interest, particularly issues related to women’s empowerment and the development of Côte d’Ivoire.
Speaking after the meeting, Ms. Henriette Lagou Adjoua said she had come to pay her respects to the First Lady and extend her New Year’s greetings. “You know she is our First Lady and our sister. We haven’t seen her since the beginning of the year. So I came by to greet her and wish her a happy new year. It’s not the end of the year yet, so we can still keep wishing her a happy new year,” she said.
The former minister also expressed her gratitude to the First Lady for the many initiatives undertaken on behalf of Ivorian women, particularly through the FAFCI. “I came to thank her for what she is doing for the women of Côte d’Ivoire. Because the loans for women—the FAFCI—were launched, and they are a great help to women. As the elections approached, we traveled throughout Côte d’Ivoire and saw the concerns women face. We also observed the benefits of these loans, which truly meet their needs,” she emphasized.
Ms. Henriette Lagou Adjoua also stressed the importance of women’s involvement in the country’s development. “We discussed issues related to women’s empowerment, and the FAFCI loans address these concerns. You know that without women, countries struggle to develop. For sustainable development, women must be involved. So, it’s important that we engage with the First Lady so that we share the same perspective on what’s happening in our country—and beyond, why not,” she stated.
This meeting allowed the two leaders to reach a common understanding on issues related to women’s well-being and the sustainable development of Côte d’Ivoire.
