Angola: First Lady Dominique Ouattara, Guest of Honor at the 2nd OPDAD Gala Dinner

First Lady Dominique Ouattara attended the 2nd Gala Dinner of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Luanda, Republic of Angola.

This charity event, held under the high patronage of the First Lady of Angola and Vice-President, Mrs. Ana Dias Lourenço, marked the conclusion of OAFLAD’s activities following two days dedicated to the African continent’s major social priorities. It brought together various First Ladies, technical and financial partners, and representatives from the private sector and international organizations, all united by a shared goal: to strengthen efforts to support the most vulnerable populations.

Given her long-standing commitment to humanitarian work, health, education, women’s empowerment, and child protection in Côte d’Ivoire, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara was a guest of honor at this significant evening of solidarity. Through the Children Of Africa Foundation, the Support Fund for Women of Côte d’Ivoire (FAFCI), and numerous initiatives undertaken for the benefit of the most disadvantaged populations, First Lady Dominique Ouattara has established herself as a leading African figure in social and humanitarian action.

Ahead of the upcoming Silver Jubilee celebration, the gala aimed to raise US$1.8 million to fund OAFLAD’s programs and ensure their long-term sustainability. The funds raised will support integrated development projects across several African countries, focusing on four priority areas: improving access to health and education; the economic empowerment of women and youth; strengthening resilience to the impacts of climate change; and protecting children and individuals vulnerable to violence.

The fundraising event featured donations and an auction. It followed the launch—held the previous day—of OAFLAD’s continental campaign titled “Strengthening the Resilience of Women and Girls: Climate, Conflict, and a Sustainable Future.” At the event, Africa’s First Ladies reaffirmed their commitment to joining forces to provide concrete responses to the humanitarian, climate, and social challenges facing the continent.

With this second Gala Dinner, the Organization of African First Ladies for Development reaffirms its commitment to uniting public and private partners around a shared vision: building an Africa that is more united, resilient, and inclusive—one where women, children, and youth are at the heart of development policies.
