Audience: First Lady Dominique Ouattara Receives Marie-Laure N’Goran, New President of UNJCI

First Lady Dominique Ouattara received Marie-Laure N’Goran, the new President of the National Union of Journalists of Cote d’Ivoire (UNJCI), in an audience at her offices in Cocody on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

This meeting took place just days after Marie-Laure N’Goran’s election to lead the professional organization for Ivorian journalists and her recognition with the 2026 National Excellence Award in the “Media Development” category.

Since she came to pay her respects come to the First Lady, the new president of the UNJCI also sought her advice and guidance to assist her in carrying out this new responsibility. She commended the career and commitment of Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, whom she regards as a role model for Ivorian women.

“As the first woman elected to lead the UNJCI—an organization that has existed for 35 years—it was important for me to come and see the First Lady of Cote d’Ivoire to seek her advice and guidance,” she stated following the meeting.

Ms. Marie-Laure N’Goran expressed her gratitude for the advice and encouragement received during the discussion. “I received both advice and encouragement. It gives me a boost, and I feel well-prepared to go far and successfully steer the UNJCI ship,” she stated.

As the first woman to assume the presidency of the UNJCI since the organization’s inception 35 years ago, Ms. Marie-Laure N’Goran intends to build upon existing efforts to elevate the journalism profession and foster media development in Cote d’Ivoire.
