African First Ladies’ Summit in Angola: First Lady Dominique Ouattara in Luanda for OAFLAD event

First Lady Dominique Ouattara arrived in Luanda, Republic of Angola, on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 29, 2026. She is there to participate in activities organized by the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLD) focused on the empowerment of women, girls, and boys across the continent.

Upon her arrival at Luanda’s 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara was welcomed by her Angolan counterpart, Mrs. Ana Dias Lourenço, First Lady of the Republic of Angola. The welcoming party included the Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to Angola, as well as various civil and diplomatic dignitaries.

Following the customary welcoming formalities, the Ivorian community living in Angola extended a particularly warm welcome to the wife of President Alassane Ouattara. Accompanied by Ivorian songs, dances, and music, her compatriots offered her a spirited “Akwaba” (welcome) in an atmosphere filled with conviviality and national pride.

On Thursday, July 30, 2026, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara will attend the official launch ceremony of the campaign “Strengthening the Resilience of Women and Girls: Climate, Conflict, and Sustainable Futures” in the presence of the President of the Republic of Angola, His Excellency Mr. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, as well as several African First Ladies.

Proceedings will continue on Friday, July 31, with the 2nd OPDAD resource mobilization gala. This initiative aims to raise funds to support integrated development projects fostering the empowerment of women, girls, and boys within African communities.

This high-level gathering will also bring together government representatives, international organizations, development partners, civil society actors, and various prominent figures committed to sustainable development and social inclusion.
