The musical group “Kids United”, made up of five (5) children of different nationality from 10 to 17, are in Abidjan from 5th to 8th October 2017 for their first concert in Africa.
Before their concert to the Palais de la Culture de Treichville on 7th October, they were granted an audience this Friday, October 6, 2017 by the First Lady, Dominique Ouattara at the presidential residence.
The children came along with Mr. Aboubacar Kampo, UNICEF resident representative and a member of each of their families, the young singers interacted for almost an hour with Mrs Dominique Ouattara, President-Founder of Children of Africa and UNAIDS Ambassador.
In a friendly atmosphere, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara presented her social and humanitarian actions for children to her little guests of the day.
Mr. Aboubacar Kampo, UNICEF resident representative in Côte d’Ivoire, kindly introduced the group and gave the purpose of this visit. “Kids United is an international musical group. They are charity ambassadors of UNICEF. And we know that the First Lady, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara is a champion for the protection of the rights of the Child. It was quite normal that if our ambassadors come to Abidjan, they meet another champion of the rights of the child. And for us at UNICEF, the First Lady is a great advocate for children, she is also the Special Ambassador of UNAIDS. So it was important they meet, and that she share all her experiences with these young artists. We thank her for accepting to meet with them, ” he said.
Indeed, since 2015, “Kids United” are UNICEF ambassadors. In addition to the concert, they will visit some UNICEF programs on October 6th and will shoot images of the official video of the song “Worldwide” to be released on November 20th.
