Audience: Lawyer Florence Loan-Messan, Head of Bar Association of Cote d’Ivoire, presents her plans to the First Lady

Lawyer Florence Loan-Messan, recently elected Head of Bar Association of Cote d’Ivoire, was received in audience by the First Lady, Mrs Dominique Ouattara, on Tuesday November 19, 2024, in Cocody.

Loan-Messan was accompanied by Mr. Arouna Ouattara, Secretary of the Order, Mrs Roseline Kouamé, President of the Bar’s Solidarity and Welfare Commission, and                  Mrs Géneviève Diallo, President of the Bar’s Access to Rights and Justice Commission.

During the meeting, Loan-Messan presented an innovative project to promote access to justice for victims of domestic violence. The project, supported by an assistance office set up by the Bar Association, aims to guarantee effective and accessible legal counselling for victims.

Loan-Messan also expressed her desire to forge a partnership with the Children Of Africa Foundation, which is active in the field of women’s rights. A collaboration that could strengthen joint efforts for the well-being and empowerment of women in Côte d’Ivoire. “We took advantage of this audience to present to her all our projects concerning access to justice, in particular our assistance office for victims of domestic violence, since the First Lady’s Foundation’s priority is to promote women’s rights. We therefore presented this project and expressed the wish that we could enter into a partnership with the First Lady’s Foundation so that we could address all issues of domestic violence”, said Loan-Messan as she left the audience.

The First Lady, Mrs Dominique Ouattara, welcomed the initiative and reiterated her congratulations to Loan-Messan on her election as head of the Bar Association. She also affirmed her support for the project, which is fully in line with the protection and promotion of women’s rights.
