First Ladies shared their experiences
They responded in Beijing this Tuesday, September 4, 2018 to the China-Africa meeting on AIDS prevention and control. The First Ladies came from across the continent under the theme: “China and Africa: Hand in Hand for an AIDS Free Future”. At the residence of the Diaoyutai state guests, far from the hubbub of the city center, each First Lady was scratched with a red ribbon. Mrs. PENG Liyuan, First Lady of China expressed the pride of the Chinese people in welcoming their sisters on the sidelines of the China-Africa summit.
PENG Liyuan told the audience that China has made significant progress in the fight against HIV / AIDS with the drastic drop in the prevalence rate. She intends to share the chinese experience with the continent.
The First Lady of Burkina Faso, Mrs. Sika Bella Kaboré, President-in-Office of the Organization of First Ladies of Africa Against HIV / AIDS (OAFLA), noted the resistance of the pandemic on the continent and reaffirmed the commitment of the First Ladies to bring the fight to a successful conclusion.
WHO and UNAIDS leaders brings their support to the First Ladies.
Michel Sidibé, Executive Director of UNAIDS, emphasized the need for First Ladies to put youth action at the heart of the fight against the pandemic. “(…) We attended a meeting to fight against AIDS, especially for young people and children. I have noticed that my First Ladies sisters have the same problem of how to prevent young people from being infected with HIV, “said Dominique Ouattara at the end of the meeting. According to the UNAIDS ‘Special Ambassador for the Promotion of Pediatric Treatment, China offers a good platform for collaboration in the light of progress made.
