Death of Mrs. Chantal Camara’s Son : First Lady Dominique Ouattara Expresses Her Condolences to the Bereaved Family
On Friday, September 11, 2026, First Lady Dominique Ouattara visited the private residence of Chantal Nanaba Camara, President of the Constitutional Council, located in the Plateau district, to offer her condolences and those of her husband, President Alassane Ouattara, following the death of her son, Kamaté Abraham, on August 14.
Although she was out of the country at the time of the death of Kamaté Abraham, a financial expert, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara had, from the very beginning, dispatched a delegation from her office, led by her Chief of Staff, Mrs. Yao Patricia Sylvie, to offer support to the bereaved family.
Upon her return to the country, she decided to come in person to bring her support and to the family. She therefore visited the private residence of the President of the Constitutional Council, leading a delegation that included, Mr. Touré Mamadou, Minister of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration, and Civic Service, who served as the delegation’s spokesperson; Ms. Myss Belmonde Dogo, Minister of National Cohesion, Solidarity, and the Fight Against Poverty; and many other dignitaries.
On behalf of the First Lady, Mr. Touré Mamadou recalled the long-standing ties between Mrs. Dominique Ouattara and Mrs. Chantal Camara. This close relationship, he said, explains the deep emotion felt by the First Lady upon hearing of the death of Kamaté Abraham. “Abraham was young and had dreams,” he said, emphasizing the particular pain associated with the loss of a child.
Referring to the close relationship between the two women, he noted that the First Lady also regarded the deceased as her own son. That is why, as soon as she returned to Côte d’Ivoire, she made a point of coming in person to offer her condolences to Mrs. Camara and her family.
On behalf of Mrs. Dominique Ouattara and her husband, President Alassane Ouattara, Mr. Touré Mamadou invited the family to find in God the strength and comfort needed to get through this painful ordeal.
Speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, Mr. Adou Richard expressed his deep gratitude to the First Lady for her constant support, from the time Kamaté Abraham was hospitalized until his death.
He also offered his condolences to Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, acknowledging the pain of losing a child. “No words can describe what it’s like to lose a son,” he said, before once again thanking the First Lady for her presence and support during this difficult time.
Mrs. Dominique Ouattara presented a donation of five million CFA francs to the family. This gesture is intended to help the family welcome relatives, friends, and loved ones who have come to offer their support and share in their grief.
