Empowerment of women: First Lady Dominique Ouattara provided over 300 million CFA francs in funding and in kind donations for women in the Belier region

First Lady Dominique Ouattara provided additional funding worth 300 million CFA francs to the women of the Belier region during a ceremony held on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Toumodi stadium. This additional funding brings to 1 billion 500 million CFA francs the amount made available to women in the Belier region under the Support Fund for Women in Côte d’Ivoire (FAFCI).

The donation ceremony took place at the Toumodi stadium, which was packed with thousands of women from all over the region.

The ceremony witnessed the participation of former Minister of President Houphouët-Boigny, Mr. Camille Alliali, his former collaborator, Mr. Abdoulaye Diallo, as well as Mr. Ahoussou Jeannot Kouadio, President of the Senate, Mrs. Nassénéba Touré, Minister of Women, Family and Children and many other personalities.

In addition to this additional funding, the First Lady offered in-kind donations worth 350 million CFA francs to the women of this region. These gifts are composed of equipment and materials to strengthen the production capacities of women in the region, as well as health equipment to strengthen the technical platforms of hospitals and health centers in the region. In addition, the wife of the Head of State offered three (3) ambulances to the health facilities of Toumodi, Djekanou and Guakrody and cash donations worth fourteen (14) million CFA francs to the people.

Taking this opportunity, the wife of the Head of State urged her sisters and daughters to encourage peace and social cohesion. According to her without these values no development is possible. “We all dream of a strong, united and prosperous Côte d’Ivoire where peace and living together allow the development of each citizen. That is why I urge you to cultivate peace and unity in your families, in your communities and in our cities and villages. I hope that you will be fervent actors of social cohesion to ease social and political tensions, because it is in peace and unity that all development is possible,” advised Mrs. Dominique Ouattara.

Mrs. Myss Belmonde Dogo, Minister of Solidarity and Fight against Poverty, thanked the First Lady for initiating the Support Fund for Women in Côte d’Ivoire (FAFCI). According to her, through this program, the First Lady has given meaning to the lives of thousands of women who are now able to take charge of their lives.

Mrs. Raymonde Goudou Coffie, Minister-Governor of the Autonomous District of the Lakes, praised the First Lady for enabling unity between local elected officials and other local actors.

Drissa Koné, Mayor of Toumodi, also praised the First Lady’s commitment to the well-being of women.

It is important to note that the population, headed by the elected officials and the executives of the region, also offered many gifts to the Presidential couple.
