Fight against Child Labor

La Première Dame, Dominique Ouattara échange avec le Ministre Jean-Claude Kouassi  sur les actions prioritaires

First Lady Dominique Ouattara received in audience Jean-Claude Kouassi, Ministry of Employment and Social Protection, on Tuesday, April 04th, 2017, at her office in Cocody. It was the opportunity for the new tenant of this ministerial department, also President of the Inter-ministerial Committee for the Fight against Exploitation, Trafficking and Child Labor, on the one hand, the state of the Fight against child labor, and on the other hand, inform himself about priority actions in the fight against child labor in Côte d'Ivoire.

As part of the priority actions, First Lady Dominique Ouattara, President of the National Oversight Committee (CNS), informed her host of the draft of two (2) orders, namely the decree determining the list of hazardous work prohibited to children and the order determining the list of light work authorized for children from 13 to 16 years. The spouse of the Head of State said that these orders should be taken before the next meeting of the Child Labor Cocoa Coordinating Group (CLCCG) scheduled from May 17th to May 18th, 2017 and the next Child Labor Survey. In addition, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara mentioned the organization in October in Abidjan of West Africa First Ladies Conference on the fight against Child Labor.

Mr. Jean-Claude Kouassi, Minister of Employment and Social Protection and President of the CIM, gave an update on the implementation of the Child Labor Monitoring System in Côte d'Ivoire (SOSTECI) and the difficulties in mobilizing the fund for its sustainability and its extension.
