Fight Against the Worst Forms of Child Labor
First Lady Dominique Ouattara, President of the National Oversight Committee of actions against child labor and trafficking, received on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at her office in Cocody, José Lopez, Vice President of Worldwide Operations of the Nestlé Group.
During thirty minutes, the President of the CNS and her guests exchanged views on the issue of the worst forms of child labor. From the outset, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara explained to her guests the new institutional framework set up by the National Oversight Committee (CNS) and the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC), needless to say that not without explaining the reasons for his personal commitment. Then she ginned progress while welcoming the proper coordination of all partners.
For his part, Vice President of Nestlé Group World Operations presented the different community development projects to fight against child labor in cocoa plantations.
In fact, this leader of the Group presented, at this meeting, to Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, President of the National Monitoring Committee (CNS), the community development projects implemented by Nestle to fight against child labor in the cocoa farms. The objective of this vast community development project is, according to the Vice-President, to facilitate access to education in Côte d'Ivoire; to make education attractive to children in communities in Côte d'Ivoire; to improve courses and encourage the reduction of the incidence of the worst forms of child labor and create infrastructure that will increase the number of children enrolled in schools.
