It starts again! Children Of Africa Foundation of Mrs. Dominique Ouattara will launch its 5th free ophthalmological consultation and care caravan, this Friday, April 07th, 2017, in Marcory-Anoumabo. After the launch, this 5th edition will crisscross from April 21st to April 29th the region of Haut-Sassandra namely Daloa, Issia, Vavoua and Zoukougbeu.
Like the previous ones, the aim of this caravan will be to contribute to the improvement of the eye health for disadvantaged children between 0 and 15 years, and elsewhere support the introduction of the Policy of free targeted care provided by the President of the Republic. Thus, the foundation and its volunteers will allow the ophthalmological caravan to treat free of charge children from disadvantaged social strata. In addition to the free care, glasses will be offered free of charge to children who are suffering from a drop or a problem of vision.
"The consultation will be free of charge, we will provide care, medication and glasses to those who need it," insisted Mrs. Nadine Sangaré, Director for Children Of Africa.
Let’s note that visual impairment due to uncorrected ametropia affects about 153 million people worldwide. In Côte d'Ivoire, a 2011 study at the University Hospital Center (CHU) in Treichville estimated the prevalence of ametropia at 18.2% and the number of blind children was estimated at 11 417.
