Inauguration of the Women’s Home: The First Lady talks with Mr. Hien Sié Yacouba, Mayor of Adiaké
On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, the First Lady, Mrs Dominique Ouattara, held an audience at her offices in Cocody with Mr. Yacouba Hien Sié, Mayor of the commune of Adiaké. The purpose of the meeting is to finalize preparations for the forthcoming inauguration of the House for women victims of gender-based violence built by the Children Of Africa Foundation in Adiaké.
The new center which officially opens its doors on April 10, will provide support to women in vulnerable situations, offering them a secure environment and resources for their reconstruction.
During the meeting, the First Lady and the Mayor discussed practical arrangements to be put in place to ensure that the inauguration ceremony takes place under the best possible conditions. “The First Lady has honored us with the construction of a home for gender-based violence victims in Adiaké, and its inauguration is scheduled for April 10. In such circumstances, I came to see the her to find out what practical measures she expects to see implemented as part of this event”, explained Mr. Hien Sié Yacouba, mayor of the commune of Adiaké. For him, the opening of the women’s center marks a significant step forward in the fight against gender-based violence in Côte d’Ivoire. It is also part of the broader mission of the Children of Africa Foundation, which has been working for many years for the well-being of children and women in distress. The construction and subsequent inauguration of the center will enable the commune to become a showcase for women’s rights promotion. This is why Mr. Hien Sié Yacouba intends to do his utmost to ensure that this event takes place in excellent conditions. “We asked for and received this building, which will give greater visibility to our commune. For us, it’s a matter of making sure that things take place in good conditions, and ensure that all those who come for the inauguration leave with good memories”, said Mr. Hien Sié Yacouba, mayor of Adiaké.
