Mourning: First Lady Dominique Ouattara offers her condolences and those of her husband to Minister Bruno Nabagné Koné

The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food Production, Mr. Bruno Nabagné Koné, is going through a painful moment following the death of his younger brother, Mr. Katié Théodore Koné, on January 30.

Deeply saddened by the loss of a member of her extended family, First Lady Dominique Ouattara wished to personally express her sympathy and solidarity to him, his daughter Masséré Touré-Koné, and the entire bereaved family.

To this end, the First Lady visited the Minister’s home in Riviera Golf on Monday, February 9, 2026, to offer her condolences and those of her husband, the President of the Republic, President Alassane Ouattara.

The wife of the Head of State was accompanied by a delegation including                                Mr. Mamadou Touré, Minister of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration, and Civic Service, spokesperson for the delegation, as well as several other dignitaries.

Speaking on behalf of the presidential couple, Minister Mamadou Touré said that the First Lady, who was particularly affected by this loss, was keen to fulfill her family and moral duty by coming to share the grief of her loved ones, pray for the repose of the deceased’s soul, and bring comfort and support to the family. He recalled that, through her family ties to the Koné family, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara wished to play her full part in the mourning process.

Deeply moved, Minister Bruno Nabagné Koné expressed his profound gratitude to the First Lady for her constant presence at his family’s side, both in happy times and in times of trial. “You have always been by our side in good times and bad,” he said, emphasizing that this support brings them comfort and hope.

Heartfelt thanks were also expressed by Mr. Dramane Koné, spokesperson for the bereaved family, who praised a gesture of solidarity “that will remain forever engraved in our hearts.”

On behalf of the presidential couple, a symbolic contribution of five million CFA francs was given to the family to help them cover the costs of the funeral and the reception of numerous visitors.

Mr. Katié Théodore Koné passed away on January 30, 2026, at the Polyclinique Internationale Sainte Anne-Marie (PISAM) at the age of 58, leaving behind a deeply saddened family and loved ones.

The funeral program includes the expression of condolences from February 8 to 10, 2026, at the family home in Cocody Riviera Golf IV, a religious vigil on Wednesday, February 11, at the Notre-Dame de la Tendresse Church, followed by the removal of the body and a requiem mass on Thursday, February 12, before burial at the Williamsville Cemetery. A Thanksgiving service is scheduled for Sunday, February 15.
