Renovation of the Civilization Museum of Côte d’Ivoire
In a few hours, Côte d'Ivoire will officially launch the eighth (8th) Games of “La Francophonie” at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny stadium. A few hours before this historic event, the First Lady, Dominique Ouattara, inaugurated the Museum of Civilizations of Côte d'Ivoire on Friday, on July 21st, 2017, in the Plateau, the business center of Abidjan. Long before the inauguration ceremony of the renovated Museum of Civilizations, the Spouse of the Head of State visited the inaugural exhibition "Renaissance or 10,000 Years of History of Côte d’Ivoire" hosted at the National Library in the Plateau.
Two major cultural events confirm the position of Abidjan as cultural capital. It was around 10.30 am that Madame Dominique Ouattara's command car stopped at the National Library.
After the usual exchange of courtesies with the personalities present, the First Lady, Dominique Ouattara, accompanied by Mr. Maurice Kouakou Bandaman, Minister of Culture and the Francophonie, and the members of his delegation visited the paintings. And the photos competing in the inaugural exhibition. The numerous afficionados of culture had the leisure to admire more than a hundred paintings and photographs. After this first stage, the delegation of the First Lady has went straight to the Museum of Civilizations of Cote d'Ivoire where Mrs. Dominique Ouattara proceeded with its inauguration. Mrs. Dominique Ouattara expressed her joy as a result of this inauguration. "Today, my joy is great to inaugurate the reopening of our National Museum, during the 8th “La Francophonie” Games in our country. I am also convinced that this exhibition will meet the expectations of many lovers of primitive art, African art and contemporary art who will visit it in the coming weeks, "she wished.
M. Noël Akossi Bendjo, Maire de la Commune du Plateau a salué les mérites de Madame Dominique Ouattara pour son implication dans la vulgarisation de l’art. Notons que les travaux de rénovation du Musée National ont duré vingt (20) mois, et ont permis de le mettre aux normes internationales.
Mr. Maurice Kouakou Bandaman, Minister of Culture and “La Francophonie”, for his part, recalled the universal character of arts. According to the latter, the paintings that enrich this exhibition come from all the Francophonie. He then welcomed the renovation of the Museum of Civilizations of Côte d'Ivoire.
Mr. Noël Akossi Bendjo, Mayor of the Plateau Commune, praised the merits of Mrs. Dominique Ouattara for her involvement in the popularization of arts. Let’s note that the renovation works of the National Museum lasted twenty (20) months, and brought it up to international standards.
