On the sidelines of the forum on Sino-African cooperation, the First Lady, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara was received at the headquarters of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation of the First Lady of China, Mrs. Peng Liyuan. From the name of the First Lady of China, this foundation is also located at the former residence of the last emperor of the Middle Kingdom.
It is therefore in this place steeped in history that serves as both the museum and headquarters of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation that Mr. Hang Yuanxiang, Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and one of the Vice Presidents of the foundation, discussed with his distinguished guest.
According to the Vice-President, China’s Soong Ching Ling Foundation was created to spread and perpetuate Ms. Soong Ching Ling’s philosophy. This philosophy was aimed at defending the cause of children, promoting culture, education, scientific knowledge, the well-being of children, the unification of China, peace and friendship between the Nations.
“This is my first time in China and I am impressed by your country and the Chinese people. Thanks to the President of the Republic and his wife for their warm welcome (…), ” said the First Lady of Côte d’Ivoire. “Our foundation haves two things in common: Africa and young people”. Mrs. Dominique Ouattara then presented the major projects of her foundation including the Mother-Child Hospital of Bingerville and the construction of the children’ Houses in Soubré, Bouaké and Ferkéssédougou. “I strive to give the best to our children whether they are rich or poor,” said Dominique Ouattara.
