Your Excellency,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is a great pleasure to me to welcome you today  to the Bingerville Mother and Child’s Hospital as part of your official visit to Côte d’Ivoire with your husband, the President of the Republic of Rwanda.

Before I start, allow me dear sister to extend to you and to your entire delegation my warmest greetings.

You are Welcome to Côte d’Ivoire.

I would like to thank Mr. Eugène Aoulé AKA, Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, for being by our side.

I would also like to thank Mr. Frédéric DU SART, Director General of the Mother-Child’s Hospital of Bingerville, and the Hospital Management Team for receiving us this morning.

I finally extend my greetings to all the officials with us today on this occasion.

Your Excellency,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I created  Children of Africa Foundation in 1998 to provide assistance to poor children and their mothers. We have been working for 20 years with my organization in the education,  social and health sectors.

With regards to education, we have built several highschools, primary schools, computer rooms and libraries  across the country.

We also distribute thousands of free school kits every year and we have 9 bookmobiles travelling across the country to promote reading among children.

With regards to social sector, we have many children’s centers where we receive and take care of children in difficult circumstances.

With regards to health, several immunization and eye-check campaigns were organized for our children. We have also provided maternity wards and health centers across the country with health equipment. These recurrent efforts enable us to reduce the suffering of our people on a regular basis.

The Mother-Child’s Hospital of Bingerville is the largest humanitarian project that Children Of Africa has been able to carry out in the health sector. This hospital was designed to provide mothers and their children with the specific care they need.

Indeed, all the missions that we have carried out for several years across Côte d’Ivoire, made me realize how important it is for our country to have such a  specialized facility to assist mothers and children.

That is why, I commited myself in building a health facility that can help people in Côte d’Ivoire and in the sub-region.

Your Excellency,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Mother-Child’s Hospital in Bingerville was built and financed entirely by private funds, thanks to the unconditional support of our generous donors.

To achieve our goal, we had organized charity gala, and had the support of major international foundations. Together, we believed it was possible to achieve such an important project. Despite obstacles we were able to complete work.

In a few months of operation, the hospital has received several hundred patients a day for consultation, and has already registered more than 265 newborn children.

In addition, the hospital provides free treatment to 25% of our indigent patients. Our objective is to help families to have access to adequate health care.

These achievements are due to our hospital staff, starting with our heads of department, doctors, nurses, midwives and all staff. I would like to congratulate them and wish them a merry Christmas.

Dear sister,

I know you are also very much involved in social and humanitarian initiatives in your country, especially in the field of education  through the Green Hills Academy that you founded, and for the fight against AIDS, through the IMBUTO Foundation.

You and I share the same commitments for the well-being of our people,  and I am very happy about that.

Thank you for visiting the Mother-Child’s Hospital of Bingerville.

I hope that the relations between our two countries, Côte d’Ivoire and Rwanda, become stronger and stronger.

Thank you.
