The United States Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire donated 1,500 books to the Children of Africa Foundation on Wednesday, May 02, 2018.
The donation ceremony in books took place after Elizabeth Mc Namara’s reading session at the American Center at the Riviera Golf, in the presence of Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, Founder of Children Of Africa; Mrs. Katerine Brucker, Affairs Officer of the United States Embassy in Abidjan; of the Minister of Culture and Francophonie, Maurice Kouakou Bandama and several other personalities.
Mrs. Katherine Brucker has translated the meaning of the gift of these books. “The United States is so happy to be able to donate these 1.5000 books to your Bibliobus and Children Of Africa program. As we know, these buses circulate throughout the country and allow young people from Côte d’Ivoire to have access to books, “she explained.
Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, meanwhile, thanked the American Embassy for this donation. She said that for almost 20 years the Children of Africa Foundation has decided to encourage reading in children. She also indicated that the Foundation, through its mobile libraries, is reaching out to children all over the country to bring them not only the joy of reading, but also access to the internet, as well as film screenings.
The ceremony ended with the visit of the “Tintin” Bibliobus. A cocktail was offered to the guests present at this ceremony.
