Dear Internet users
Welcome to my personal webpage. This platform will provide you all the information related to my mission as First Lady of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. Indeed, with the accession of my husband, President Alassane OUATTARA to power, I have decided to serve my country and devote myself to the situation of children in difficulty through Children of Africa Foundation.
The initiatives taken by
Mrs Dominique Ouattara,
First Lady of Côte d'Ivoire
Mrs Dominique Ouattara, as First Lady of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and President of the Children of Africa Foundation, which she created in 1998,
has taken several initiatives to improve the well-being of children and their mothers.
For the future of Africa's children
Following the accession of her husband, H.E.M Alassane Ouattara, to power in 2011, Mrs Dominique Ouattara became fully involved in the work of her Foundation which operates in 12 African countries in addition to Côte d’Ivoire. Through her Foundation, Mrs Ouattara has initiated various actions in the fields of education, social welfare and health. The construction of a hospital for mothers and children only, in order to help reduce maternal and infant mortality, is the most important project implemented by her Foundation. The Bingerville Mother and Child Hospital was inaugurated on March 16, 2018.
Combatting child labor
The National Oversight Committee of Actions for the Fight against Trafficking, Exploitation and the Worst Forms of Child Labor
Mrs Dominique Ouattara has been President of the CNS (National Oversight Committee of Actions for the Fight against Trafficking, Exploitation and the Worst Forms of Child Labor) since 2012. This national committee works to protect children’s rights, and takes action to combat the exploitation and trafficking of children.
Supporting Ivorian Women
Because she believes in women’s potential, Mrs Dominique Ouattara created the FAFCI (Support Fund for Women in Côte d’Ivoire) in 2012, to finance women’s microprojects across the country. Today, hundreds of thousands of women have received this fund to develop income-generating activities and help their families emerge from poverty.
Mrs Dominique Ouattara,
UNAIDS Special Ambassador
As Special Ambassador for the Elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV and for the promotion of pediatric treatment, Mrs. Ouattara continues to raise awareness about access to antiretroviral therapy for women and children living with HIV.
