Initiatives supported by Mrs Dominique Ouattara, First Lady of Côte d'Ivoire
As First Lady of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and President of the Children of Africa Foundation, which she created in 1998, Mrs Dominique Ouattara has spearheaded various initiatives to promote the well-being of children and their mothers.
Following the accession of her husband, H.E.M Alassane Ouattara, to power in 2011, Mrs Dominique Ouattara became fully involved in the work of her Foundation, which operates in 11 African countries in addition to Côte d’Ivoire. Through her Foundation, Mrs Ouattara has initiated various actions in the fields of education, social welfare and health. The construction of a hospital for mothers and children, with a view to helping reduce maternal and infant mortality, is the most important work carried out by her Foundation. The Bingerville Mother and Child Hospital was inaugurated on March 16, 2018.
Dominique Ouattara has also been President of the CNS (National Oversight Committee of Actions for the Fight against Trafficking, Exploitation and Child Labour in Côte d’Ivoire) since 2012. This national committee works to protect children’s rights, and takes action to combat the exploitation and trafficking of children.
Mrs Dominique Ouattara created the FAFCI (The Ivorian Fund for Women) in 2012, to finance women’s micro-projects across the country. Today, hundreds of thousands of women benefit from this fund to develop income-generating activities and help their families emerge from poverty.
Mrs Dominique Ouattara has always been the voice of the underprivileged.
For the future of African children
